BLUE WAVE ENTERTAINMENT - BLUES ROOM RADIO - SUNDAY 11 NOVEMBER

Ringo pleased the audiences at the world famous Blues Room as part of the "BluesRoomRadio" sessions.

BluesRoomRadio was broadcasted Sunday from 5-6:00 PM and is sponsored by JOHNNIE WALKER SCOTCH WHISKY.

Ringo played at the Blues Room on Sunday 11 October.

While still at school, Ringo formed an acapella group, with the role of lead vocalist. The group performed at many freshers parties and beauty pageants, entertaining those who had them. After his introduction into the performing world, Ringo joined a local Cape Town act that performed at local clubs.

Once again taking on the role of lead vocalist fell upon him, when he formed the group called "Peto". They took the leap into international fame when they entered the Shell Road to Fame. They won first prize and their music began to spread throughout the country. This country wide interest in Peto was due to not only the bands unique sound, but also to Ringo's distinctive presence.

Peto's enduring popularity was their support act status on stage with international acts like Eric Clapton at the King's Trust Concert in Swaziland. Peto was enjoying a good deal of airplay for their debut album "Khaya" - translated: 'Home, where the heart is'. Unfortunately the ecstasy of fame was disturbed when Peto went through some difficulties and decided to part ways.

The next section of Ringo's career was spent with Gecko Moon, who did the cover version on McGuire and Sparks' song "Green Green - al a Reggae". Working with Gecko Moon gave Ringo time to do various radio Jingles and television jingles which he did extremely well. He then did sessions for well known international stars - Simply Red, Teddy Pendergrass (The Power of One), Hugh Masekela and Caiphus Semenya to name a few.

With all this to his credit, in 1996 Ringo went solo and released the album called "Vukani" - meaning 'Wake Up'. This albums indigenous rhythms and melodies gives a lyrical wake up call to his brothers and sisters and friends to see the new South Africa. The message "Don't give up on life - strive for what you want and edify yourselves in a better way and encouraging hope for our future".

His second album "Sondelani" meaning 'get closer', was released at the end of September 1997. This album is a plea for the whole nation to unite, it encourages love, understanding, peace as well as tolerance amongst one another. The album speaks to the inner-man and especially to the youth of our nation encouraging them to stop sowing the seeds of hatred and death but rather to rise up in forgiveness.

The broadcasts are open to the public. The Blues Room doors open at 3:00 PM. The Blues Room features a complete international a la Carte menu. For dinner reservations and tickets call The Blues Room at 784 5527.
